At the smart comment he jerks forward just a bit, at first moving to stand up but rethinking the motion in the middle of it, and giving a low woof in response. His tail is quickly swiping across the floor as it wags, though it slows down considerably when the fingers find the metal band. There's a whine again, paw jerking back at the contact, but not enough so that it pulls it out of the hand.

When the man gets up and heads to the kitchen he is quick to get up and follow, eagerly getting underfoot as he looks up to see what the man is getting. He's just as eager to head back into the other room, butt flopping down next to folded legs and pressing a cold nose at the offered hand. After a moment though he once more lifts his paw and places it onto the hand.

Even though the person is being gentle with it, the cutters still bother him, giving another whine and paw jerking again. He does that a few times, not at all happy about having the cutters near the pads of his feet. Eventually there is a snap and the cutters, as well as the pressure from the other object is gone, he's once more wagging his tail.
